While the original 2013 classic eventually sailed onto the Wii U and the original Nintendo Switch, this full-scale remake is built on the latest Anvil engine with “zero original code.” This hardware-intensive approach means that target platforms are strictly limited to PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and high-end PCs. For players looking to take to the Caribbean seas on the go, handheld gaming options will likely be limited to PC-compatible handhelds capable of meeting the game’s steep hardware demands.
Technical Barriers on Portable Hardware
