Fifteen Ubisoft Studios Reportedly Cooperating on Assassin's Creed Black Flag Resynced
A Massive Global Collaboration for the Caribbean
With the official release date set for July 9, 2026, reports have surfaced showing the immense scale of development behind the remake. According to sources close to the project, a total of 15 Ubisoft studios have contributed to rebuilding the classic pirate adventure. Lead developer Ubisoft Singapore, which is handling the bulk of production, is reportedly supported by fourteen other co-development teams spread across the globe.
The contributing offices reportedly include Montreal, Shanghai, Chengdu, Philippines, DaNang, Bucharest, Belgrade, Kyiv, Barcelona, Bordeaux, Montpellier, Quebec, Sofia, and Ubisoft India. While Ubisoft is famous for its cross-studio collaborative pipeline, coordinating fifteen different development houses represents a massive operational undertaking, indicating just how much weight the publisher is throwing behind this remake.
Rebuilding from Scratch on the Modern Anvil Engine
This level of resource allocation matches previous statements regarding the scope of the project. Unlike standard remasters, Ubisoft previously confirmed that this version has very little original code. The game is built from the ground up on the latest iteration of the Anvil engine, aiming to modernize both the land-based parkour and the seamless naval traversal.
Managing such a wide web of studios is not without its risks, as coordinating assets and code integrations across different time zones can lead to optimization challenges. However, the collaborative effort suggests that Ubisoft is treating the remake as a major tentpole release for the summer, attempting to deliver a polished pirate sandbox after years of fan requests.
Post-Launch Plans and Leaked DLC Rumors
As the studio collaboration comes to light, the community is already looking toward what comes after launch. Reports from Insider Gaming suggest that post-launch content is already in the pipeline, with leaks pointing to a potential DLC package that reportedly features a dark fantasy aesthetic reminiscent of Dark Souls. While Ubisoft has not verified these rumors, the prospect of post-launch expansions has kept the community active as they prepare for Edward Kenway’s return.
