Assassin's Creed Black Flag Resynced Revealed: Release Date, Editions & Everything Confirmed
It’s official: Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced is real, and it sails on July 9, 2026. After months of leaks and a brief acknowledgement in Ubisoft’s March 4 franchise update, the publisher pulled back the curtain on April 23 with a cinematic reveal and a deep set of first details.
This is not a remaster. Resynced is a ground-up remake of Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag (2013), rebuilt on the latest version of the Anvil engine — the same technology behind Assassin’s Creed Shadows. Ubisoft says the project contains “zero code from the original 2013 game.”
When does it release?
Black Flag Resynced launches July 9, 2026 on PlayStation 5 / PS5 Pro, Xbox Series X|S, and PC (Ubisoft Store, Steam, and the Epic Games Store), with cloud streaming via GeForce NOW. Full details are on our release date page.
Remake, not remaster — what’s actually changed
Developed primarily by Ubisoft Singapore (with original team members returning), Resynced rebuilds the Caribbean from the keel up:
- Raytraced global illumination and reflections, modernized water rendering, dynamic weather, and a micropolygon virtualized-geometry system for enormous draw distances.
- A reworked parry-driven combat system with new takedowns, quick-fire rope dart and pistol moves, and a new “Demolitionist” enemy.
- Crouch-anywhere and dive-anywhere stealth, extended Eagle Vision, and tailing missions that no longer instantly fail when you’re spotted.
- Naval upgrades for the Jackdaw — new secondary weapons, assignable Officers, ship pets, and a reworked Kenway’s Fleet for passive income.
Crucially, it’s designed as a focused action-adventure — no levels, no gear score. See the full breakdown on our what’s new page.
New story content
Original writer Darby McDevitt returns, and so does Matt Ryan as the voice of Edward Kenway. Resynced expands fan-favourite arcs for Blackbeard and Stede Bonnet, and adds a brand-new scene between Edward and his wife Caroline. The modern-day Abstergo sections are replaced with narrative “What if?” rifts. Meet the cast on our characters page.
Editions and pre-orders
Three editions are confirmed — Standard ($59.99), Deluxe ($69.99), and a $199.99 Collector’s Edition with a 31 cm Edward Kenway figurine. Pre-ordering nets the Blackbeard’s Crimson pack. Compare them all in our editions guide.
Stay tuned — we’ll be updating the site continuously through launch with hands-on guides for combat, stealth, and naval domination.
